Slacker

I have been super slack.

I've only written two posts (including this one) in November. I did go to Melbourne for a mini-break but that's not really any kind of excuse. I haven't really been doing anything remotely design wise. The house is the same. No new paint colours.

I did get this beautiful Ben Frost print at the Trailblazers exhibition in Sydney about a week of so ago.

Backyard Bliss

Loving this backyard I stumbled across on Flickr. Loving the shrubbery/mural/red chair combo. How very urban.

It's always been a dream of mine to have graffiti in the backyard. And now I have my wish. With a little bit more love, I think my backyard could be even better than the funkiness above. Here's how it (sort of) stands at the mo:

There's still a lot of work to be done - finishing the rendering on one wall, finishing painting the other walls, finding furniture than wont get get eaten by the dogs, finding plants that wont get eaten by the dogs. At least I managed to chose a non-offensive colour to paint the walls!

In the mean time, here are a few other bits of backyard graf that useful inspiration. I know we can do much better though! Better get my roller ready for next weekend... There's DIY to be done.

King of Gods

Check out the amazing work of UK artist Zeus which is featured in Nuart (Norwegian street art festival running throughout September). A combination of graffiti and fine art, Zeus' beautiful work goes beyond the 2D world of walls and spray cans and into 3D.

He also does a bit of Graffurni (that one's for you Hayley. You inspired me to coin my own phrase: graffiti + furniture + anti-establishment homage to Fightclub = graffurni). His graffurni was featured a while back in GQ magazine (see below). I'd love to get my hands of some more shots of his furniture work...

Especially loving the chest of draws, back left. Check out more Zeus here.
