One of my all-time favourite flicks is Heathers, starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. Heathers was released in 1988 and rocks some serious late 80's fashion steez. Blazers, shoulder pads, court shoes, big hair and court shoes all feature heavily - not to mention an array of brightly coloured tights. Each Heather (and even Veronica) had their own primary colour (mad respect) and rules about what to wear and when. And these girls were hardcore high school bitches before LiLo had stopped wearing nappies...
Here's a little reminder of what Heathers is about (if you haven't seen it, you need to):
Funny thing is I think someone else thought of it first. Ever heard of the Chicklets? They were a group of tween-somethings bitches who appear in an episode of Punky Brewster called 'Just Say No' that aired October 27 1985. These bitches were cliquey to the power of exclusive, and they probably hadn't even reached puberty. They each have their own colours, but rock some hardcore accessories. Then they bust out party favours like 'nose candy' and a shitload of other pills and doobies whilst up in Punky's treehouse. Badass.
So which came first - the Chicklet, or the Heather? I think the obvious answer is the Chicklet. Maybe the Chicklets grew into Heathers and got dead by Christian Slater? Check out the Chicklets on Punky Brewster:
Chicklets have better accessories, but Heathers are meaner and they play croquette. Heathers win!
